This original print by Rosie Fairfax-Cholmeley is composed around the last lines of the poem 'That Nature Is A Heraclitean Fire And The Comfort Of The Resurrection' by Gerald Manley Hopkins.
Flesh fade, and mortal trash
Fall to the residuary worm;
world's wildfire, leave but ash:
In a flash, at a trumpet crash,
I am all at once what Christ is,
since he was what I am, and
This Jack, joke, poor potsherd,
patch, matchwood, immortal diamond,
Is immortal diamond.
The image was made by carving a Lino block which was then printed and reduced in size before creating a polymer relief block.
This print is printed on 145gm Zerkall paper using a hand-operated Vandercook proofing press.
